Katharyn Machan “Braiding,” “Witch”
Currently Katharyn Howd Machan now as a full professor, has been teaching on the faculty of the Department of Writing at Ithaca College ever since, with additional active roles in the Women’s Studies Program and the Gerontology Institute. Her poems have appeared in numerous anthologies/textbooks most recently Belly Words: Poems of Dance (Split Oak Press, 2009), When She’s Asked to Think of Colors (Palettes & Quills Press, 2009), The Professor Poems (The Main Street Rag Publishing Company, 2008).
Maria Terrone “With These Words”
Maria Terrone’s “With These Words,” published in the Spring 2001 issue, won the Dogwood Second Prize Award and was subsequently published in her first poetry collection, The Bodies We Were Loaned (The Word Works, 2002). And “In the Land of Emperors” appeared in our Spring 2005 issue. That poem is in her second collection, A Secret Room in Fall (co-winner, McGovern Award, Ashland Poetry Press, 2006). She was invited to participate as a writer in a Guggenheim Museum multidisciplinary project, stillspotting nyc, being presented in Queens, New York in April 2012. In her day job, she is Assistant Vice President for Communications at Queens College, City University of New York. Thanks to an Individual Artist Initiative Award from the Queens Council on the Arts.
